Fun with the Wimmers

We love nothing more that when family comes to visit. The Wimmers had the week of President's Day off of school, so they came to stay with us. The kids had such a great time, as they always do when they are together. The food by the hot tub in the above picture is usually not allowed, but it turned out to save a life. I was up in my bathroom after everyone had come in, and I looked out the window and noticed that the kids had left the plates out there. Emily and Jacob came in to ask me a question, and I told them they needed to go get the plates. They told me they would do it after they showered, but I told them no, they needed to do it now. It was raining, and I knew they wouldn't want to go out and get wet after they were dressed. Thankfully, they went right then, only to find Sam in the water. He had gone out and seen a toy that he wanted in the hot tub, and fell in when he reached for it. They must have gotten there within seconds of him falling in. Jacob jumped in and pulled him out, and he was fine. I am so thankful for that I had that prompting, and that I held strong that they shouldn't wait to clean up the pool area. As a result, we were able to have a fun week together, but more importantly, we averted a tragedy that would have forever changed the lives of everyone involved.

The kids logged quite a bit of time on the couch watching T.V. and/or watching Jacob and/or Emily play New Super Mario Bros on D.S. Not the most stimulating of activities, but at least they weren't left home alone to watch The Young & the Restless while eating toast, oreos, and Grape Crush (popular activities with our Wier cousins when we were young).

Thanks again for sticking to your feeling and making those two go out to fetch the plates. That would have put a real damper on things. Don't you sometimes wish we could leave them happily watching The Young and the Restless while we went out shopping all day? However, they might have been out jogging in 120 degree weather and hoping to be in Ketosis when they got back. Who knows, certainly not us!
