Open House

Every year at the end of May, Sycamore Canyon hosts an Open House for parents and students.  The students' work from the whole year is showcased here, and the teachers put a lot of effort into the weeks leading up to Open House to make their classrooms look really great.  It is always so much fun to see everything, and the kids are so proud to show their families all the fun things they have been working on.
The first graders have spent about a month studying Africa.  This is Sydney's painting of a camel.

Each student chose an African animal to research.  They wrote a report on their animal, and make a shoe box diarama to share with the class.  Sydney was so proud of her zebra!

The fourth graders have been studying California in social studies this year.  For their big end-of-year project, each student chose a California landmark to write a report on an make a model of.  Emily's teacher, Mrs. Abraham, suggested that she do her report on the Los Angeles Temple.  It was a fun project to work on, and we all learned a lot about the history and construction of the L.A. Temple.  She made her model out of sugar cubes and royal icing--good thing it's not ant season yet, or they would be having a feast!
