Summer's End

We headed to St. George and met the Smiths for one last party the week before school started. The kids swam, watched more than enough TV, ate popsicles as fast as we could buy them, and climbed down window wells to catch lizards by the dozens. Everyone had fun, and it was a great way to end the summer!

One of the many lizards. . .

A new pastime this trip: making "paint" out of water and crushed red rocks. These two would have made good cave painters!

Caroline has a lizard in her hand--notice the goofy smile. There was a bit of a lizard fiasco when one got loose in the house. It jumped out of the bucket, and no one could catch it. When the kids went to bed that night, they were all a little freaked out that they would wake up with a lizard in their bed. That didn't happen, and the kids did find it the next morning, under a big chair. However, Luke went to lift up the chair to get it out, the lizard darted out at the same moment he dropped the chair. It was a gruesome scene, with eyes and tongue popping out when the chair landed on it. New rule: no lizards in the house.

Not sure which is worse...the idea of a lizard loose in the house or a squished lizard! We need to go back soon!
