Gymnastics Banquet

A couple of weeks ago, we attended the annual Victory Gymanstics team awards banquet. It was held at Spanish Hills Country Club, which was a beautiful setting. It was a very nice afternoon, with good food, good company, and nice things were said about each and every team member. The head coaches, Andy and Michelle, did a great job of recognizing each girl for her individual strengths (and/or quirks!). When we first got there, Bret bought two raffle tickets each for Emily and Sydney. To make the day even better, Sydney won 50 dollars in the raffle held at the end of the program! Emily, however, didn't think it was particularly fair that Sydney got so much money when she didn't get any. She was quick to point out that if she had won, she would have split the money with Sydney. She told me this in all seriousness. Sure you would, Emily.

Sydney got the "Smiley Face" award, with a giant smiley face pen. Andy said that no matter what he tells Sydney, whether he is telling her she did particularly well on something, or he is telling her to go climb the rope or do push-ups, she always smiles and says, "o.k.!"

Emily got a giant comb, and the award for "Polite, Pretty & Perfect Hair." Michelle commented that Emily always comes in early to work on bars, and that she is always very polite when she goes to find Andy or Michelle to ask if they will "please tape my hands." She also commented that her toes are always pointed, and her hair is always in place.

Wow, lucky and ritzy little gymnasts...I never got a fancy banquet. I am glad they do that though because I know precisely how hard your girls work in that gym. Enjoying your few hours a day alone yet?

Sounds like a great banquet and their awards fit them perfectly! How lucky for Sydney, does she have any plans for the money?

Emily's award should really go to you. In fact, you should receive one for each of your girls. The pictures are so cute.

I had to laugh when I read Emily's award. I have no doubt that her hair is always in place! Often when I am doing Olivia's hair I think of you and your perfect hair dos.
