Birthday ballet

Caroline has a ballet class every Wednesday at our community center.  I have been meaning to bring a camera and take pictures ever since she started last September, and finally on her birthday, I managed to make it there with my camera.

The "soup dance"--the girls dance around while holding up their "soup" without spilling it.

Caroline had something very important to share with her best friend, Eliza.  I only wish I had a zoom that would let me hear what she was saying!

I love watching Caroline at ballet.  I love being the mom (finally) who is just there with one child, and not chasing after another one, telling the younger one to be quiet, or taking them out it the hall, counting the minutes until the class is over.  Watching this class was a little bittersweet, though, as I realized, once again, that my baby is growing up way too fast, and there is nothing I can do to stop it.  When I tell her that she needs to go back to being three, she laughs and tells me, "No, I'm four, and on my next birthday, I'll be five!"  I then tell her, "No, you can't turn five," and she just laughs and laughs like it's the funniest thing ever.
