This past weekend, we took a quick trip down to San Diego for some fun cousin time with the Wimmers. As usual, our time with them was too short, but the time we had was definitely quality time. On Saturday, the kids decided that the beach sounded like more fun than Sea World, and in light of the heat, Melissa and I had to agree with them. It was filled with boogie boarding, swimming, shell hunting, and sand castle building. Top that off with a giant bag of Cheetos and Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies, and what more could you ask for? As an added bonus, we made it home with all seven of the children we came with!

Sam and Caroline were both being camera shy, so I had to be sneaky about the pictures I took of them.

These three took a break from boogie boarding and decided to bury their feet.

Go Sydney! This beach excursion will always be remembered as the one in which Sydney and Emily were converted to the ocean. Up to this point, Emily throws a fit whenever we go to the beach. She says she HATES the beach, she will not get anywhere near the water, and usually sulks under the umbrella most of the time. Sydney likes the beach, but prefers to stay a safe distance from the water, while collecting shells or digging in the sand. I was shocked, to say the least, when they both picked up boogie boards and followed Jacob out into the ocean. Emily was out there for quite some time before she came back to shore with a huge smile. She immediately said, "That was awesome! Can we go to ward beach day next week?"

Jacob, Carter, Emily and Sydney heading out to catch some waves.

Notice the goofy smiles on Sydney and Carter. They have their mouths full of sandwiches, since we told them they had to eat their lunch before they could start on all the junk we brought along.

One more shot of Sam and Caroline, taken on the sly. I felt like I was the paparazzi, following these two and trying to get a picture before they noticed me and ran away.

I am truly proud of Miss Emily's newly found ocean appreciation. I am also proud of you guys for making the trek AND making it back with all seven-but where was the eighth?
I need to get the beach pictures from you, I don't have a single one. They turned out super cute, and I am glad we were able to convert those two to the joys of the ocean. Thanks for coming, can't wait to come there!
So lucky to have beaches close! I am glad Emily enjoys the ocean, hopefully she will still like it when we are able to make it for a visit!
Such cute pictures! Love and miss you guys!
The beach sounds so amazing. You are lucky to live so close. It was fun to see Allison when she came to Spokane. We all decided that you need to come with her next time!
