First Day of School!

This is another milestone year, with three out of four kids in school all day.
Emily really lucked out this year. Not only did she get the best fourth grade teacher in the school, Mrs. Abraham, she ended up with both Emma and Myriam (girls from our ward) in her class. Maybe most exciting of all, though, is the fact that for the first time since preschool, she is the ONLY Emily in her class. Finally, she can just be "Emily," and not "Emily P."

This one pulled on my heartstrings a little. First grade is such a big step in to the big world. Not only are they gone all day, eat lunch at school, but they are thrown in the playground with the big kids. The sheltered life of kindergarten is over! Fortunately, Sydney has Mrs. Wright, a wonderful, loving teacher to help her (and me!) with the transition. It's funny that I was far less sentimental with the older two starting both kindergarten and first grade. I think it is just hitting me that my days with little ones around are numbered. What will I do when there is no one around during the day asking for their 17th sippy cup of milk and watching an episode of Curious George that I have seen at least 30 times?

Sydney sitting at her very first desk, next to Siddhi, who was in her class last year. Out of 20 kids in the class, their is a Sydney, a Sidney, and a Siddhi. Emily may not have to be Emily P. this year, but I guess Sydney will be Sydney P.
